PROJECTS

Mechanical Claw Machine

Claw - Lead Designer | Jan 2025 - May 2025

SITUATION:

  • Machine Design – Class project

TASK:

  • Create a purely mechanical device (no electricity) that performs a useful task

  • Requirements: motion conversion, integration of gears, linkages, fasteners, shafts, and additional components

ACTION:

  • Designed the claw mechanism in SolidWorks, meeting all functional requirements

  • Fabricated components through 3D printing and laser cutting to achieve accuracy and functionality

  • Recognized by peers and instructor for effective CAD modeling and prototyping

SKILLS

  • CAD Design (SolidWorks)

  • Prototyping (3D Printing and Laser cutting)

  • Teamwork

IAM3D Glider

Project Leader

Aug 2024 – Apr 2025

SITUATION:

  • IAM3D Competition (Innovative Additive Manufactured 3D: a national competition hosted by ASME that challenges engineering students to design, build, and test 3D-printed devices that relate to real-world engineering projects.)

TASK:

  • Design 3D-printed discuss launched glider (DLG).

RESULTS:

  • Ranked in 2nd place at a national competition.

SKILLS

  • Leadership

  • CAD Design (SolidWorks)

  • Material testing

  • Teamwork

  • Iterative prototyping

ACTION:

  • Led a team of 10 students to design and manufacture a 3D Printed DLG glider

  • Explored different materials to reduce weight and improve functionality of product

  • Ran FEA analysis to better understand drag and lift effects on the glider
